Brief Background of Samskritam.

Samskritam ( संस्कृतम् ) is the world’s oldest (about 3,500 years old) living language of ancient Vedic civilization (Bharat ). It is a sacred language known as “devavani” meaning the language of gods.

Usage & history.

The script used in Samskritam is “devanagari”. “Devanagari” is formed by the two words “deva” देव and “nagari” नागरी which means the “city of the gods” . Samskritam is traceable to the 2nd millennium BCE in a form known as the “Vedic Samskritam”, with the Rigveda as the earliest known composition. A more refined and standardized grammatical form called the Classical Samskritam emerged in mid-1st millennium BCE with the Astadhyayi treatise of Panini . Though developed and nurtured by scholars of orthodox schools of Hinduism, this language has been the language for some of the key literary works and theology of heterodox schools of Indian philosophies such as Buddhism and Jainism.

This language is a scientific and SPIRITUAL language where EVERY word has a natural power in form of sound (ध्वनि) provided the speaker knows the correct meaning of the WORD spoken. Being a pure phonetic language , each starting and ending of “EVERY WORD” of Samskritam has basic pure sound (ध्वनि ) attached to it.

This language has been the predominant language of Hindu texts encompassing a rich tradition of philosophical and religious texts, as well as poetry, music, drama, scientific, technical and others. It is the predominant language of one of the largest collection of historic manuscripts.

Modern Usage of Samskritam.

There is a myth today in India that Samskritam language is “too difficult”. Through our videos we will break this myth . This language is actually EASY to understand provided basics of Samskritam are known properly. The Good news is that Samskritam has experienced a growth of over 70 per cent in one decade. Today the villages in India where Samskritam is largely spoken are: Mohad , Baghuwar, Jhiri in Madhya Pradesh, Mattur in Karnataka, Hosahalli in Karnataka, Sasana in Orissa and Ganoda in Rajasthan

There are some English words that has its origin in Samskritam language . For Example : “brother” is derived from samskrit word “भ्रात्र” , word “mother” is derived from the samskrit word “मातृ” , the word “mind” is derived from samskrit word “मानस”

My Journey of Samskritam.

Samskritam

I could not learn this language in my childhood simply because my family did not know this language and my school did not had this language in its curriculum. The education system in India does NOT take pride or in anyway supportive in teaching this great language. Majority of Hindu families ( sadly my family being one of them ) simply does not take pride in teaching their children this great language . So majority of hindus simply could not read Vedas or any Samskritam scriptures in its original form.

The reason why I started learning this great language is to satisfy my curiosity about the divine Gaia . “Understanding VEDAS” is an humble endeavour to know the deep understanding of importance of divine Gaia as mentioned in vedic scriptures . My journey is all about to gain the REAL AUTHENTIC understanding from the ROOTS of the vedas.
